Fitting a Reversing Camera – Part 3

Wiring and fitting the trigger relay:-

Whilst waiting for the additional terminal pins that fit into the blue and white plugs to arrive I am wiring up the trigger relay ready.

I found the wiring diagram on one of the forums which earth one of the pins in the blue plug which then automatically switches the video screen on the head unit to the reversing camera when reverse gear is selected. I found I did not need to wire the camera trigger – it depends on the make of camera.

Do not get confused between the camera trigger which switches the camera on – not required on most cameras as they will start as soon as power supplied. The trigger wire to the blue plug switches the screen automatically to the reverse camera as soon as reverse gear is selected.

I needed to test whether the wiring and camera was working OK so rather than waiting for these pins I set up a tv in the garage and plugged the camera output into the video socket ….. and all seems OK.
