MG ZT V8 Serpentine Belt

Also known as the Auxiliary Belt.

I noticed a few days ago that the gap between pulleys 7 & 8 was only about 10mm which I thought seemed a little close. Then looking closer at the tensioner arm could see it was hard up against it’s “stop”.

The belt kit includes pulleys 7, 8 & 9.

This would account for the little amount of “belt slip noise” I heard occasionally on cold start up. So time for a new belt.

So onto the RockAuto website. Rather than buying just the belt there was an option to go for the belt kit which included pulleys 7, 8 & 9. This would solve the issue where the surface coating on pulley 9 was peeling off and so would replace that at the same time.

I ordered the parts on a Sunday and they arrived from the USA the following Thursday …. which I was duly impressed. The parts price list was £45 but by the time delivery and taxes were added this increased to £71! …. not so impressed! – but members of the 260s forum get a 5% discount if you can work out how to apply it at checkout. Anyway got the parts – now ready to fit them.

See how i fitted the belt at https://mgzt.info/2021/02/15/fitting-new-auxillary-belt/
